Mr Kaziya

AFTER remarks that he would ensure the PF loses power to the opposition in Lusaka’s Matero constituency prompted outrage and condemnation from the Patriotic Front members across the country who demanded for his immediate expulsion, Mr Lloyd Kaziya has u-turned and said he still believed in the party.

In an interview on Sunday, Mr Kaziya, the embattled Matero MP, said he would use his influence to ensure the PF loses the parliamentary seat to the opposition in the August 12 general elections.

This raised eyebrows around PF members who not only blasted him, but demanded for his expulsion from the party.

But barely 24 hours later in a dramatic turn of events, Mr Kaziya, who wanted to save his face after growing pressure claimed the story was not true but a fabricated one aimed at bringing his name into disrepute.

“Kindly ignore the headlines in today’s Daily Nation. This is a total fabrication arising from my stand off with Kennedy Kamba’s statement. This is meant to bring my name into disrepute with my party,” he said.

In a statement attributed to him, Mr Kaziya said, “I Lloyd Mulenga Kaziya,  elected member of parliament for Matero constituency hereby deny and dispel all such reports as false  and mere works of my enemy and  the party who are ill bent on primitive politics.”

But PF Matero Constituency chairperson Lee Mukupa said Mr Kaziya was an ungrateful man who lacked wisdom.

“He has no wisdom. He is actually ungrateful because he was picked from nowhere and we supported him but he failed to deliver.

“He has no influence in Matero. The level he has reached, not even his wife or children can vote for him because he is not only lazy but a total failure. Can you imagine, this is a man who failed to bring water in Matero even when he was a cabinet minister in charge of Water Development?” Mr Mukupa said.

Meanwhile, PF Lusaka Province Secretary Kennedy Kamba has said Mr Kaziya only won the Matero seat because he stood on their ticket.

He said Mr Kaziya has proved his irrelevance when he failed to respond to the aspirations of the people of Matero because of his lazy attitude towards work.

Mr Kamba said the PF would in the forthcoming general elections adopt a candidate who will deliver to the expectations of the residents.

He also said the party would not waste time to summon or petition the expulsion of Mr Kaziya who had already kicked himself out in retrospect by his own failure to perform.

A PF die hard, Mcfallen Ndhlovu challenged Mr Kaziya to come in open and tell the party which opposition party he was ‘secretly’ dining with.

Mr Ndhlovu said Mr Kaziya’s courage to attack the ruling party was not coming from nowhere.
