    Chilangwa contests bench warrant in High Court

    PATRIOTIC Front (PF) acting deputy secretary general, Nickson Chilangwa, has petitioned the Lusaka High Court, contesting the decision by the Kawambwa Magistrate Court to issue a bench warrant against him.Mr Chilangwa contends that the issuance of the bench warrant violates his right to a fair trial.Last week, Magistrate Martin Namushi issued a bench warrant against Mr Chilangwa, who is also Kawambwa Central Member of Parliament for absconding court sessions.

    Now, Attorney General, Maureen Mwanawasa sued

    THE Attorney General and former first lady, Maureen Mwanawasa, have been taken to Court, with the litigants demanding the removal of armed paramilitaries from the retirement house of late President Levy Mwanawasa, now owned by Lusaka University Limited. In a petition filed in the Lusaka High Court, by the initial buyers of late President’s property, located in Chongwe, Ms Esther Chipasi and Mr Mustapha Kwabena Osuman, allege that Ms Mwanawasa has refused to vacate the premises of the property which was currently guarded by armed paramilitaries.

    Fredson Yamba sues ACC over frozen bank accounts

    FORMER Secretary to the Treasury, Fredson Yamba, has sued the Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC), alleging that the freezing of his bank account held at Absa Bank PLC is illegal. According to originating summons filed in the Lusaka High Court on Wednesday, Mr Yamba is seeking an order that the notice of restriction dated March 6, 2023, issued by the Director General of ACC is illegal.     Judge Kafunda rejects medical report in the Pamela Chisumpa case

    LUSAKA High Court Judge Charles Kafunda has rejected the medical report presented to him that James Bwalya, one of the men accused of abducting Pamela Chisumpa and 12 others, is not fit to stand trial due to traumatic spinal code injury.
