C/B Tonse hails suspension of ‘traitor’ Zumani

By NATION REPORTER TH suspension of Chris Zumani Zimba was long overdue because it had been a well-known fact that he was a traitor who had been planted into the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance leadership structures by his known sponsors, Amon Chisenga has said. Mr Chisenga, the Copperbelt Province Chairperson for BM8 said in a video posting that Dr Zimba had been making wild political statements without consulting the leadership of the Tonse Pamodzi Aliance that his statements did not represent the position of the alliance. “Please, let us bear in mind that we are in this situation because of what transpired during the election and we must not take some of these statements for granted that Dr Zimba has been bought to make these statements,” Mr Chisenga said. “From today onwards, we will stand by our president and everything that Dr Zimba has said should be taken that it was said in his personal capacity and not on behalf of the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance,” he said. He said the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance had remained united behind Mr Mundubile and his running mate Makebi Zulu, stating that the opposition grouping was eagerly waiting for the release of their leaders. “Please let us remain united until this Government releases the president of the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance Brian Mundubile, his running mate Makebi Zulu and all the people who were arrested together with him,” Mr Chisenga said. And Mr Chisenga said there cannot be any dialogue where the aggrieved were behind bars, charged with tramped up offences of treason. He said true dialogue only existed where there was a level playing field. “I want to tell the Copperbelt Province to remain united and to continue supporting our Brian Mundubile and all the leaders because of the August 13, general election,” Mr Chisenga said. He said the Copperbelt team had visited the incarcerated opposition and his running mate Mr Zulu. “President Mundubile is in good health and in high spirits. He advised us to tell the people outside to remain united. Further, as Copperbelt Province, we wish to reiterate that we remain with president Mundubile,” Mr Chisenga said in a video posting.
