Treason documentary on ZNBC meant to prejudice Mundubile, Makebi - Chibuye

THE content and timing of the President Hakainde Hichilema documentary on the Zambian National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) is ethically dangerous and meant to prejudice Brian Mundubile and his running mate Makebi Zulu in the tramped up treason charge, Anthony Chubuye has said.

Mr Chibuye, the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance deputy spokesperson says airing the judgemental documentary against Mr Mundubile and Mr Zulu days before President Hichilema’s inauguration for his second and final term was ill timed and only meant to sway the public from violence, arrests and detention of opposition leaders on manufactured treason charges.

In a statement, Mr Chibuye said the conduct of the board and management of ZNBC to allow such a defamatory documentary had fallen short of professionalism and was in conflict with the ethical standards set by the Independent Broadcasting Authority.

Mr Chibuye explained that ZNBC was trying to accuse and find Mr Mundubile and Mr Zulu including and all the other 14 treason detainees guilty in the public eye and before any competent court could.

He said Mr Mundubile and Mr Zulu had committed no crime and called on the police and the National Prosecution Authority to expedite the process so that the two opposition leaders were presented before the courts and commence trial as their legal team was more than ready to test the evidence of the state.

Mr Chibuye explained that the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity presidential candidate and his running mate, including lawyer George Chisanga were distinguished men of the law with noble characters who decided to surrender themselves to the police despite knowing that their charges were political. - MILLENNIUM TV.
