A police post under construction in Kanyanje area of Pamodzi Township in Ndola is scheduled to be commissioned soon, says Pamodzi councillor Manasseh Siwila.

He said the police post had been constructed with the help of many other cooperating partners and the local authority through the Ward Development Fund.

Pamodzi Township has another police post near the market.
In an interview yesterday, he said the police post would curb crime and enhance security in the area which experienced crime.

The councillor stated that Kanyanje area had about 20,000 residents hence the need for the facility to protect the people and property in the area. He said the police post would soon be open to the public in a few weeks as most works had been completed. Mr Siwila said the area had been faced with several security threats ranging from muggings at night, housebreaking to gassing.
This, he said, had caused panic among the residents in the area. He appealed to the residents in the area to be patient as other logistics for the police post were being put in place.
The councillor also made an earnest appeal to the people in Pamodzi to be patient with the other developmental projects like roads, water network construction and health post.
