UNITED Bank for Africa Zambia Limited (UBA Zambia) has been named ‘Bank of the Year 2020’ by the Banker Magazine.

UBA Zambia this year embarked on a number of initiatives including investment in digital technology, adherence to world-class customer services offering, exceptional retail products as well as positive community based interventions.
Chinedu Obeta, the UBA Zambia Chief Executive Officer, said the institution was leveraging on its unique Pan-African platform and innovative banking products and solutions to exceed customers’ expectation.
Mr Obeta, also Bank’s Managing Director believed that the award would therefore spur the institution in its renewed commitment to exceed customers’ expectation.
He said in a statement that the award was a step towards UBA’s aspirations of being one of the top three banks in the country
“We are pleased to be recognized as ‘Bank of the Year’ in the distinguished award ceremony held by The Banker Magazine. Winning the award, confirms the positive strides the brand is making in the country.
“This award comes at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic has negatively affected the banking sector and UBA Zambia has been able to stand strong and resilient in its mandate of delivering excellent financial services to customers,” Mr Obeta said.
According to the statement, the judging panel were impressed by UBA Zambia’s strategic campaigns to spread financial literacy and promote a savings culture, sound business model and its pioneering technology.
The Bank of the Year awards has been celebrating the best of global banking and is regarded as the industry standard for banking excellence and the 2020 edition highlights those institutions that have outshone their peers in terms of performance, strategic initiatives and response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
