ACC nabs 2012-2013 Zone Six subcommittee member

THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested vice chairperson of transport sub- committee of the 2012-2013 Zone Six Youth games held in Zambia for alleged willful failure to declare interest in a matter involving the hire of vehicles for the games.

Ronald Chungwe Meki, 46, of Plot 11 First Mwambula Street, Jesmondine, Lusaka, was arrested and charged with failure to declare interest contrary to Section 28 (3) as read with Section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012. 

According to a statement issued by ACC public relations manager Timothy Moono, Meki failed to declare interest in writing over the procurement of motor vehicle from his company. 

“ Details are that on unknown dates but between 1st October 2012 and 28th February 2013, in Lusaka, Meki, being a public officer, namely a vice chairperson for the Transport Sub-Committee of the Zone Six games, failed to declare interest in writing to the said sub-committee when he participated in the procurement of motor vehicles from his company, for hire to provide transport for the Zone Six games, a matter or transaction prejudicial to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, a public body,” Moono said.

Meki was released on bond and appeared before the Lusaka Magistrates’ court on January 25, 2018.
