By AARON CHIYANZO

FIGHTING corruption still remains a top notch for the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) as it administers national affairs to create a better Zambia, says PF media director Sunday Chanda.

And Mr Chanda said there was nothing illegal about implementing an infrastructure project or a Zambian company being awarded a tender unless someone can prove that proper bidding procedures were ignored.

Mr Chanda said the PF government was still committed to the fight against corruption to create a better Zambia.

He said in a statement that government was mindful of its awesome duty for accountability as it administered the affairs of the nation.

Mr Chanda assured that President Edgar Lungu and the PF remained credible and committed to its mandate of creating a better Zambia.

“In delivering on its mandate, the PF will always self-correct on any shortcomings and mistakes while improving on its track-record. The Party will continue to connect and reconnect with the citizens constantly reporting on the progress being made,” he said.

Mr Chanda said that PF was in office not because of its love for power but rather its commitment to service and that its works remained visible for all to see.

He however said that PF was not allergic to criticism from members of the public, including those who at one point could not be allowed to enter mining yards.

Mr Chanda reiterated that even people with a dark past and others who stole ‘an entire railway line’ between Ndola and Luanshya were free to criticize.

He charged that one’s dirty past still did not preclude him or her as a citizen from asking questions but that this did not in any way make them clean unless they could face their past demons still haunting them in their sleep.

Mr Chanda said it was a cheap smear campaign to maliciously label government officials as corrupt without bringing tangible evidence to the fore.
