Klub Vegas Entertainments music and video DJ, Hamambo Monga aka DJ Luv Bird says Zambian DJs have a major role to play to ensure Zambian music is spread across the borders.
Speaking in an interview to explain the performance of Zambian music on the international platform, DJ Luv Bird said there has been a great improvement especially in music video production. He said most Zambian artistes are beginning to appreciate the importance of investing highly in quality video productions that have made their way on influential music channels.
“So far, we have seen that Zambian music videos are now common on international music platforms. This is a big improvement and an indication that most of them are working hard to ensure Zambian music is represented. The music production is also improving every day,” says Luv Bird.
However, the music spinner who enjoys a career over 12 years playing in Zambia’s major clubs observes that for Zambian music to make greater influence, artistes need to develop a good relationship with DJs.
“DJs have a key role in Zambian music promotion. They have all the experience and understanding of what music is trending and how Zambian musicians can improve. This is because DJs work with different music genres every day. They play for different audiences and this give them the advantage to be key advisers in how musicians need to promote their music,” Luv Bird says insisting that he has learnt a lot about music promotions through the various tours of duty he has had outside Zambia.
“When we play outside Zambia, it is amazing how people respond to some good Zambian tracks. It is this same idea that gives us an advantage to know what people outside Zambia want to listen to.”
And Luv Bird pays tribute to veteran DJ Links in the Mix and Bizzy Wizzy for their guidance to help him grow in his career as a DJ.
