INTERCONTINENTAL Hotel will be undergoing extensive rehabilitation beginning on the 1st of September 2017, in order to insure we maintain updated standards, general manager Didier Coeln has announced.
And Mr. Coeln announced that the timeline for phase one of the project renovation which would initially involve one wing was anticipated to be 10 months after which the wing would re-open as an InterContinental Hotels Group hotel brand, the Holliday Inn.
Mr. Coeln said during the renovation, the wing consisting of 106 bedrooms would be out of service while all the other hotel facilities such as meeting rooms, restaurants and the health club would operate normally.
He said the hotel shopping arcade which housed shops and the hotel outside laundry would be closed.
“I would like to share some exciting news regarding the hotel. Beginning the first week of September 2017, the hotel will be undergoing an extensive renovation to ensure that we remain on par with the updated brand standards for InterContinental and that we maintain the grandeur of the hotel,” he said.
He explained that under phase two, the remaining part of the Hotel InterContinental, would be renovated into a new and modern facility, adding that the timeline for phase two would be communicated in due course but that there it would be executed in a way that allowed for most of the hotel facilities to remain operational.
“My team and I are working on measures to ensure that we minimize the inconvenience to our guests staying at our hotel, or having meetings and accessing any of our hotel facilities during the renovation period and we thank the business community for the continued support to the hotel over the years,” he said.
