KANTANSHI Member of Parliament Anthony Mumba is confident that most of the ongoing projects in the constituency will be completed in the next five years. Mr Mumba said that would be possible because President Edgar Lungu emphasized on the importance of infrastructure development during his speech at the official opening of Parliament last Friday.

He said the constituency had a number of uncompleted projects like schools, healthy institutions, roads and others which needed to be completed to improve the lives of people in various parts of the constituency. He was speaking at the weekend when he visited the construction site of Murundu Boarding High School whose building had stalled due to lack of funds.

Mr Mumba earlier handed over 10 computers to Murundu Primary School which were donated  by the Ministry of Education. He said he would strive to lobby Government for the completion of the Murundu Boarding School so that it was completed within the next five years. “My role as MP is to lobby for development to come to various parts of the constituency.

Kantanshi has a number of uncompleted development projects which if completed would improve people’s lives. “If this Murundu school is completed, there will be no need for pupils from this area to pursue senior secondary education from far-flung areas. He said apart from Murundu there were other uncompleted projects in the health sector as well as some roads  that needed to be worked on. “In lobbying Government I have to explain and convince them that these projects will improve people’s lives once completed,” said Mr Mumba.

He also said while waiting for the completion of the Murundu School, it was important that the institution was upgraded to secondary school status through the construction of a 1 x 3 classroom block. And Mr Mumba was on Saturday saddened over the lack of security at the school after learning that a printer, a battery, a monitor and a refurbished computer worth K16,000 had been stolen a day before he handed over the 10 computers from the Ministry of Education. School head teacher Annie Kalunga said the school in collaboration with the police in the area had agreed to improve security to curb thefts at the school.
