A 24-YEAR-OLD man narrated in Lusaka Local Court how he got a rude shock of his life when he found condoms in his wife’s clothes after she left him with a child at home.

Ashel Sikazwe, a barber man of 6 miles was testifying in a case in which his wife, Adesi Kayembo, 26, a business woman sued him for reconciliation.

The two got married in 2015 and have one child and dowry was not paid.

Kayembo told Senior Court Magistrate Pauline Newa sitting with Magistrate Miyanda Banda at Matero Local Court that she had no peace since they married because Sikazwe has been threatening to kill her since they married.

She explained that when she became pregnant he told her that he would kill her.

Kayembo added that when Sikazwe bought a plot he told her that he would kill her so that she did not benefit from the house.

‘’Later, Sikazwe bought doom and said that he will kill me since I don’t want to leave him but after I threw the doom, he beat me. Sikazwe left the matrimonial home last week,’’ said Kayembo.

In defence, Sikazwe said that Kayembo was fond of going to her parents, saying she was going to watch Television and that when he asks she would get a knife.

He explained that last month Kayembo told him that there was a man who proposed love to her and said she would just squander his money, adding that he promised to take her to the showgrounds.

Sikazwe added that later Kayembo told him that the same man is rich because he bought four goats for the party.

“I was shocked to find condoms in Kayembo’s clothes after she left me home with a child. She got a knife and threatened to stab me after I beat her. I don’t want to reconcile with her because she can kill me,’’ said Sikazwe.

Magistrate Newa dismissed the case on the basis that dowry was not paid, saying there was no marriage
