THE painting materials donated to Matero Level One Hospital by Wives of Noble Character (WNC) will improve the face and appearance of the male and female wards at the hospital, hospital Medical Superintendent Angela Mache has said.

WNC donated painting materials to Matero Level One Hospital worth K5, 000.

Speaking after receiving the donations, Dr. Mache commended WNC for the gesture, noting that the donations would improve the appearance of the hospital.

She said the institution was unable to meet all the needs that it requires due to financial challenges it is faced with.

Dr. Mache said she was happy to meet partners who were willing to come on board to lend a helping hand and that WNC had a passion to improve the livelihood of women in the community.

“It’s good to see an organisation like yourselves who have a heart for women and are ready to improve the livelihood of women in our community,” Dr. Mache Said.

Meanwhile WNC president Favour Mwaba said the organisation was a non-profit, faith-based club whose aim was to build strong empowered wives, who would be instruments of holistic change at the household, community and national levels.

Ms. Mwaba said WNC had seen the need to support and complement existing government initiatives at the community level through taking small steps of supporting towards health programmes for women.

She said WNC was happy to officially announce it had taken a small step to adopt the medical ward at the Matero Level One Hospital and that the purpose of adopting the ward was to establish a long term support of improving the delivery of primary health care service for wives at the local level.

Ms Mwaba said WNC was grateful to the hospital administration for having opened the door to them and partner with them and that they looked forward to closer ties.

“We are grateful to the hospital administration for having opened the door to us to partner with them and we look forward to undertaking the ‘Road to Change’ together,” Ms Mwaba said.

She said she was hopeful that the painting of the male and female wards would be completed in two weeks’ time.  And the hospital’s Sister in Charge Catherine Kasanga thanked WNC for the wonderful gesture that had been showed to the hospital, considering the fact that it had a number of challenges.

Ms. Kasanga said the donation they had received would help them because the ward that had been adopted was in dire need for repairs and rehabilitation and that Government was trying everything possible to improve facilities.
