A 38-year-old woman has died after she was knocked down by a motorcycle on the Mwinilunga-Ikelengé road in a hit and run collision.
North Western Province Commissioner of Police, Auxinsio Daka, confirmed the crash yesterday which occurred on Wednesday at around 06:00 hours and identified the deceased as Sharon Nswana of Kabanda township in Mwinilunga who later died at a local district hospital after sustaining head injuries.
“We recorded one hit and run fatal road traffic accident which occurred opposite Nyasanta market on the Mwinilunga-Ikelengé road,” he said
Mr Daka explained that the woman sustained serious head injuries after being hit by the rider who fled the scene and she later died at Mwinilunga district hospital.
Mr Daka said police were investigating the matter to bring the culprit to book while the body of the woman is lying in Mwinilunga District Hospital mortuary awaiting burial.
