Mufaya scoops Movie Of the Year Award

2016 has seen great productions in the era of Zambian films. Film makers now have a wider platform to showcase their productions with content acquisition by ZNBC, Muvi TV and Zambezi Magic.
There is a new demand for quality content and producers are making an extra effort to ensure they create great work that meets international standards as the film industry gets competitive. The latest movie that has been highly talked about and received great reviews for the quality of storytelling and production standards in Zambia is MUFAYA.
The movie which was released and premiered on 26th May 2016 at Ster Kinekor Cinema in Lusaka and Kitwe Little Theatre on 29th July 2016. It was sold out at both venues. The film, which was produced by Every Moment Connections in conjunction with MBroz scooped the Best Feature Film of the year award in the 2016 SOTAMBE Documentary Film and Arts Festival (SOTAMBE DFAF) which took place from 20th to 24th September at Kitwe Little Theatre. The winners were announced during the award ceremony on the last night of the festival. ‘’Finally, the results of great work has paid off’’, said Mr. Paul Muluwe Nasho – project director at Every Moment Connections Ltd when he received the award. He thanked corporates for supporting the film industry in Zambia and pledged that the support will greatly contribute to the growth of the Zambian industry. Mr Nasho also thanked the SOTAMBE Documentary Film and Arts Festival management for the initiative in celebrating the arts, stating that it is through such recognitions that film makers will be encouraged to work hard and produce quality work that meets International standards. Mr Nasho also hinted of a new movie project E.M.C & MBroz are working on and promised to avail the details soon. MUFAYA is a movie about a young man struggling to find redemption in a changing world, while drawing attention to the ills of alcohol and drug abuse. It was written by Joel Kapungwe, directed by Felix. C. Muyembi. Jr and produced by Nasho Mapulanga.
