Museveni to grace Zambia’s Uhuru

UGANDAN President Yoweri Museveni will grace this year’s 52nd Independence celebrations in Lusaka.

And President Edgar Lungu has accepted an invitation to attend an extra-ordinary summit of the International Conference of the Great Lakes region (ICGLR) in Luanda next week to discuss the peace and security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the status of implementation of commitments agreed upon by member countries in 2013.

Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba told a media briefing yesterday that President Museveni would be in Zambia to grace this year’s Independence Day celebrations and would use his visit to have bilateral talks with President Lungu.

“His Excellence President Museveni will grace Zambia’s 52nd Independence Day celebrations and is expected in Zambia on 23rd October, 2016 and whilst in the country, the visiting Head of State will hold bilateral talks with President Edgar Lungu. President Museveni is expected to travel back to Uganda soon after the celebrations on Monday,” Mr. Kalaba said.

And Mr. Kalaba said President Lungu has accepted an invitation to attend an extra-ordinary summit of the International Conference of the Great Lakes region (ICGLR) in Luanda next week to discuss the status of implementation of commitments agreed upon by member countries in 2013.

He said the meeting, which would take place on 26th October, would be preceded by the meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs two days before.
