By FRANK NYAMBE

A BUSINESSMAN narrated before a Local Court in Lusaka that he was not seeing progress in life because his wife was listening to what her friends told.

Samson Sinyangwe, 29, a businessman of Garden House compound was testifying in a case in which his wife, Christine Sichalwe, 24, sued him for reconciliation.

The two got married in 2010 and they have three children. Dowry was paid.

Sichalwe told Senior Court Magistrate Esther Mulomba sitting with Magistrates Abbyshine Michelo and Mubukwanu Matakala at Kanyama Local Court that problems started in 2011 when Sinyangwe started accusing her of stealing money from the shop and that she would go to her mother after he beat her.

She explained that in June last year they differed because of the contact Sinyangwe saved on his phone as ‘my love’ and that he packed for her and she left.

Sichalwe added that Sinyangwe called her back in April 2017 but when he started rearing chickens he accused her of causing loses because chickens were dying.

“In May 2017, Sinyangwe said that my parents should return the dowry, he wants to divorce me. I sued him because he doesn’t maintain children, he says it is not his children he has a woman with children who resemble him,’’ said Sichalwe.

In defence, Sinyangwe said that since they married, he has not done anything successful because Sichalwe likes asking people about his movements.

He explained that he did not progress because it was people Sichalwe asked from who influenced their marriage.

“Yes, I admit I used to beat Sichalwe but she doesn’t want to come out of the group influence,’’ said Sinyangwe.

Passing judgment, Magistrate Mulomba said that Sichalwe should stop listening to her friends because they will just cheat her.

She said that Sinyangwe should stop having girlfriends but concentrate on the family and that they should cooperate in order to have progress in life.

She reconciled the couple since they were both willing to reconcile.
