TWO candidates have succesfully filed in their nominations for the Mushindamo council chairperson by-elections which is slated for November 17.

The two men are Lackson Mulumbi from the United Party for National Development (UPND) while Peter Kapamba is contesting on the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) ticket.

At exactly 12 hours yesterday Mr Kapamba was declared duly nominated candidate for the PF after presenting 15 supporters and the required documentation to Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) returning officer Daraida Daka.

Ms Daka said Mr Kapamba was free to commence the campaigns which will close on the 16th of November 2016.

“I, being the returning officer for Mushindamo district council chairman election, wish to announce that Kapamba Peter has succesfully filed in his nomination,’’ Ms Daka said.

And speaking to journalists shortly after filing in his papers, Mr Kapamba expressed confidence of scooping the seat and pledged to take development to the area once elected.

Mr Kapamba, who was flanked by his campaign manager Emmanuel Chihili and his deputy Dawson Kafwaya, said he will work closely with all stakeholders and ensure that the area was developed. “I want to address the challenges the people are facing in the area and those challenges are issues to do with water and the road network,’’ he said.

Mr  Mulumbi was second to file in his nomination papers but refused to speak to the media.
