THE Round Table no. 2 of Kitwe has spent more than K30,000 on the rehabilitation of the classroom block for Children With Special Education Needs (CWSEN) at Rokana Primary School in Nkana West.

And Kitwe District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Kelly Mwale has said society should be kind enough to support children with special education needs so that they too could be in schools like any other child. Kitwe Round Table number 2 chairman Chileshe Kakana said it was the wish and hope of his organization that the little token of assistance given to the school would better the learning environment of the children.

Mr Kakana said the organization held a series of fundraising ventures such as the Rokana Beer Festival which was held in October this year at Mindolo dam in partnership with Power Tools Bus Services and other partners. “After this fundraising, we saw it prudent to come forth and support this great school by refurbishing a classroom block at a cost of K30,000,” said Mr Kakana. And Mr Mwale said disability was not inability and so it was imperative that various sections of society worked towards giving support to CWSEN to enable them contribute to economic recovery and national development.

Mr Mwale was speaking in a speech read for him by District Education Standards Officer Bbole Malambo when the Tablers handed over the rehabilitated classroom. The classroom block, was handed over to the school yesterday by Kitwe Mayor Christopher Kang’ombe, a former pupil of the school. Mr Mwale said Government was happy that the Round Table club had taken up the noble cause of supporting children with special needs, adding  that the State was always happy when individuals, companies and organizations complemented its efforts in the provision of social services like education.
