…HOMOSEXUALS, LESBIAN HOLD SECRET MEETING IN LIVINGSTONE

By Andrew Mukoma

A SECRET gathering of gays and lesbians from different countries met in Livingstone for seven days at a prestigious hotel allegedly owned by a politician and a traditional leader, a source has disclosed.

According to the source, the meeting was so secretive that hotel workers were not allowed to serve them.

The workers would only leave what they needed and would be chased from the conference room and that no one was allowed to enter and leave anyhow.

“The meeting was there and it was done in private. No one was allowed to go in the hall or out,” the source said.

The source disclosed that people from different countries came for the seminar but didn’t say how many people attended.

“For people to have a gathering at the hotel it means that a lot of people from different countries came,” he said.

Authorities at the hotel have denied accommodating a team of persons that are advocating for gay rights.

According to the information, the hotel in the last few days accommodated people from different parts of the world who held a conference to discuss the issues of gay rights.

However, the hotel’s public relations department  denied such a meeting, saying that the only meeting the institution accommodated was the MTN conference which ended last week.

But some workers who sought anonymity disclosed that there was a meeting of that nature.

“Yes, there was a ka conference but highly secured and secretive but it ended four days ago. Let me find out how many days and the number of people will get back to you,” the source said.

Homosexuality is illegal in Zambia and attracts a 14 year jail sentence.
