By OSCAR MALIPENGA

EMBATTLED Roan member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili has been invited to Southern Province to meet traditional leaders regarding his apology to the Tonga-speaking people, former Chimwemwe Patriotic Front member of Parliament Mwenya Musenge has disclosed.

And Mr. Musenge has clarified that attempts to close down his pub in Kitwe popularly known as “Chillers” was not politically motivated but a normal operation by council police because his liquor trading licence had expired.

Meanwhile, Mr. Musenge has charged that he would not and never considered joining the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) because he does not believe in their ideology.

In an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr. Musenge, who could not disclose the names of the traditional leaders, encouraged Mr. Kambwili to heed to chiefs’ advice who had asked him to travel to Southern Province for a meeting regarding his apology.

“I want to believe Honourbale Kambwili did a very honourbale and noble thing by apologising to our brothers and relatives in Southern Province and for me, I would want to take it that he did not apologise to UPND but he apologised to the Southerners, so the people to accept his apology are not UPND but the people of Southern Province.

“We are happy with the way the chiefs have come out and we support that. I think the main thing that Honourbale Kambwili has to do is to heed what the chiefs have said that he must travel to Southern Province and meet them and have a chat with them and put this matter to rest,” Mr. Musenge said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Musenge disclosed that he had been trying very hard to entice Mr. Kambwili to join him and form their own political party but that he has been adamant.

“As at now I can confidently say we are not together because I have tried to entice him to forget about pursuing the matter in court so that we put our heads together and quickly form a political party but he seems to be adamant he believes in the PF and he wants to fight for the PF so for now he is doing that.

“But for me, what I am doing is coming up with a party and then be able to now prepare our party manifesto and vision and allow people to buy into it and probably allow people to advise,” he said.

And Mr. Musenge clarified that it was a normal operation when council police officers attempted to close down Chillers

“They were carrying out inspections to check on whether you have all the legal documents to operate and what transpired was our liquor licence has expired and we chatted and we paid K450 penalty fee and we were allowed to continue operating.

“We went to the council to follow all the legalities which are almost done so I do not take it as victimisation,” he said.

Mr. Musenge also disclosed that he can never consider joining the UPND because his ideologies were completely different.

He however clarified that he has never been approached by the UPND following his expulsion from the PF.

“My approach is totally different to their beliefs, ideologies and principles are totally different because in my case I would want to invest a lot in research as a party to try to rediscover ourselves as a nation. Why do we have politics of hate and acrimony amongst political parties why can’t we live together as one family especially in the multiparty dispensation?

“So it is something completely strange which I know will take a lot of time to be appreciated but I think it is the right thing to do to create harmony in the country,” Mr. Musenge said.

He said he wants to play politics of integrity, maturity and truthfulness.
