THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) says everything has been put in place for the teams that are coming for the Under 20 AfCON which kicks of this Sunday.

In an interview with Daily Nation Sports, newly appointed FAZ communications manager Desmond Katongo said FAZ expected the seven teams participating in the tournament to be in the country between February 23 and 25.

Katongo hawever noted that FAZ will not be responsible to cover accommodation costs to those teams coming for the U-20 Africa cup tournament before February 23.

“Teams are expected to be in the country on February 23 and everything has been put in place but some teams have decided to come before February 23 which means they will have to cover the cost themselves not until the 23 of February,” Katongo said.

Cameroon was expected in the country this morning.

And FAZ General Secretary Ponga Liwewe said the organizing committee has started clearing up the grass at heroes’ stadium to create more packing space during the Under 20 AFCON tournament which kicks off on February 26.

“Parking is adequate and some areas are being cleared to create more space for parking so that as many people as possible can be able to park at the Heroes and Levy Mwanawasa stadia since  the two stadia will be used for the tournament,” Liwewe said.

Liwewe disclosed that the organizing committee of the tournament will implement a traffic control program that will ensure that traffic flows before and after the games.

“We will make sure we resolve this problem. We will have a well-organized traffic control program that will see to it that traffic flows after the games,” he said.

Lusaka’s National Heroes stadium will host group A matches of the Total Under 20 AFCON with host nation Zambia taking on Guinea in the first game of the tournament on Sunday.

Egypt and Mali will face off in the second game at the same venue with Group B’s Senegal, Sudan, Cameroon and South Africa playing from Ndola.
