VICE President Inonge Wina has warned political party cadres against interfering in the operations of bus stations and markets.
She said operations of bus stations and markets were a preserve of the local authority.
Mrs Wina said bus stations and markets were not properties for any political party but government.
The Vice President said this yesterday when she officially opened a modern Itezhi-Tezhi bus terminal and market constructed at a cost of K26 million.
“This is a government project and not a party project.
“Let me sound a friendly warning that whoever will be found wanting will face the full wrath of the law and there will be no sacred cows,” she said.
Mrs Wina said according to the local authority Act, bus stations and markets were a preserve of local authority.
She said the Patriotic Front (PF) government was committed to improving every sector of the economy.
Mrs Wina said infrastructure development would remain the core business of PF government.
“We will continue to build roads, schools, colleges, universities, clinics and hospitals,” she said.
Mrs Wina said Zambia had became a construction site in all provinces and that evidence was there for everyone to see.
She said inclusive government was a cornerstone of development hence PF government’s priority to give quality services for all.
Mrs Wina said her government has managed to fund all the projects that have been completed and those which were still under construction.
She said there was no district in Zambia today which had no active government project.
Mrs Wina said a modern bus station and market in Itezhi-Tezhi district had come at a right time for the residents to conduct business in a conducive environment. On Monday afternoon, the Vice President announced that Itezhi-Tezhi dam fish levy will be reduced because it is currently too high for fishermen especially locals.
Currently, fishermen pay K1,200 as entry/permit levy to Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) to access Itezhi-Tezhi dam fish which was partly located in a game reserve.
Speaking when she addressed a rally in Itezhi-Tezhi district at Itezhi-Tezhi primary school grounds, Mrs Wina said her office will ask the council chairperson Namakau Kaingu if elected to work towards reducing fish levy by engaging relevant line ministries.
