FORMER INDEPENDENT CHIMWEMWE MP DARES PF

By SANFROSSA MANYINDA

I AM standing against the Patriotic Front (PF) to prove its Secretary General, Mr Davies Mwila wrong and show him that I will win the Chimwemwe Parliamentary seat, former Independent Member of Parliament, Mr Mwila Mutale has said.

Speaking shortly after filing in his nomination at Chimwemwe Secondary School in Kitwe yesterday, Mr Mutale said he did not understand why the Secretary General decided to withdraw his candidature for the constituency.

Mr Mwila said the central committee of the party chaired by President Edgar Lungu had settled for him as parliamentary candidate for Chimwemwe and wondered why Mr Mwila decided to withdraw it.

“The SG singularly removed my name on the list of adopted candidates for reasons best know to himself which is so unfair.

“It is for this reason that I will not give up but go ahead and contest the seat in the Auguat elections as an independent candidate and show him how popular I am on the ground,” he said.

Mr Mutale said he wanted to win the seat so that he could defend the integrity of the people of Chimwemwe who had always wanted to be on the ground.

He said the people of Chimwemwe wanted someone who was on the ground and a resident not someone who was not one who dies not reside in the constituency.

Meanwhile, PF adopted candidate Allen Banda has assured the women and youths of Chimwemwe that he would support them with various empowerment programmes to sustain their lives.

Others who filed nominations to contest in the constituency was Stephen Chewe of the Socialist Party, Gift Kapembwa of the People’s Alliance for Change, Niel Mackay of the Democratic Party, Bornwell Matanda of the United Party for National Development and Patrick Simwanza of the National Democratic Congress.
