HAKAINDE HICHILEMA IS LYING, SAYS CHARLES KAKOMA

By AARON CHIYANZO

IT is all lies for UPND president Hakainde Hichilema to claim that his party has secured cancellation of 20 percent of Zambia’s debt from international lenders once he forms government because there is no reputable institution that can give such guarantee to an opposition party, former UPND spokesperson, Charles Kakoma has said.

Mr Kakoma, who is PF Zambezi West parliamentary candidate, said international financial lenders were reputable organisations which only deal with a sitting government.

He said in an interview that it was all lies and wishful thinking for an opposition party to claim that international leaders had guaranteed such a deal.

Mr Kakoma was reacting to a pronouncement by Mr Hichilema that the UPND had been assured by some lender that 20 percent of the country’s debt would be cancelled once it forms government.

Mr Kakoma however laughed off the claims, saying that no reputable international lender could strike such a deal with an opposition party.

“That is just wishful thinking, it is obviously what the UPND want to happen if they were to form government. Otherwise international leaders are reputable organisations and they deal with the government of the day, they cannot strike such a deal with an opposition party,” he said.

And Mr Kakoma expressed confidence that the PF government would secure a cancellation of the current debt of more than 20 percent.

He said the government would do more than the UPND were wishing and had already made strides in achieving that.

Meanwhile, Mr Kakoma said filed his nomination for the Zambezi West seat on the PF ticket.

He said one of the aspiring candidates, Mr Raphael Ngimbu, who was also popular had been taken on as the campaign manager.
