DON’T DROP THE GUARD,L/STONE RESIDENTS URGED

By ANDREW MUKOMA

LIVINGSTONE residents have been urged not to drop guard on the health protocols given by health experts in view of the rising cases of Covid-19 in the country

Mutinta Marimba Mwanamwalye, the Livingstone District Commissioner observed that some residents had stopped adhering to the Covid-19 guidelines.

Ms Mwanamwalye said Livingstone residents must not relent in adhering to the guidelines because the third wave had set in and numbers were rising every day.

She said in Livingstone that a team from the District Health Office and Livingstone City Council was on the ground to sensitise residents on the pandemic.

“People had relaxed but the officers from health are working round the clock to ensure people adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines,” Ms Mwanamwalye said.

Meanwhile, Ms Mwanamwalye announced that the construction of the Intercity Bus Terminus in Livingstone has been completed.

She said that the facility was awaiting the official commissioning by President Edgar Lungu this month.

“When we came two weeks ago, the test runs were not done but as you have seen, they are done and the lift is working, the escalators are also working.

“The only thing remaining is cleaning the outside part in readiness for the commissioning and we are all eager to start using the facility,” the DC said. On the modern market, Ms Mwanamwalye said works were at 93 per cent completion level.
