IT is clear that UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema is only interested in the possibility of being in power not the wellbeing of people, Forum for Democracy and Development leader Edith Nawakwi has charged.

Reacting to the decision by the UPND to defy the suspension of public rallies by the Electoral Commission of Zambia, Ms. Nawakwi charged that Mr Hichilema’s appetite to enter State House has made him desperate to  do anything just to fulfil his dreams.

She said the decision by the UPND to defy police directive and go ahead with rallies shows that the opposition party does not care about the people’s wellbeing and their health even when the country is recording an increase in the number of Covid 19 cases.

“Mr Hichilema does not care for the people as long as he appears to be on a route to become president.

“He is using humans as shields knowing that it is not his relatives who will gather and risk contracting Covid 19. As for him he will stand from afar with a face mask, “ he said.

She further charged that Mr Hichilema is well known for not caring for poor people like he has done in the past with BP workers among other company workers affected by privatization.

“Mr Hichilema is only interested in possibility of being in power and his pockets that’s all .

“Some workers at BP have died without getting their money and he does not care all he likes doing is paying high legal fees so that cases are delayed, “she said.
