ECL assures of quality health care for all

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has assured of quality health care for all Zambians regardless of location.
President Lungu said people in rural areas would not be left out.
He said this after inspecting a new ultramodern and fully equipped mini hospital in Chembe yesterday.
“This is what we mean when we say universal health coverage for all without leaving anyone behind,” he said.
President Lungu said new health infrastructure would be constructed in all parts of the country.
He however called for patience in areas which were still in need of proper health facilities.
“Development is a process and has no end. Even Rome was not built in one day. All we can say is hold your breath,” he said
And Chembe district health director, Doctor Cardson Kabwe said the health care provision in Chembe had become efficient with the new mini hospital.
He said the area used to depend on health facilities in neighboring towns to access major health services such as surgery.
Dr Kabwe said with the new mini hospital which had a fully-fledged theater, the first successful surgery case was conducted yesterday.
“We had to go to Mansa which is about 89 kilometers from here for major operations but now we all conducting services here,” he said.
President Lungu also took time to visit the patient, a woman who had just given birth to a baby boy through caesarian section.
He wondered how the woman would have suffered to access theatre if the new hospital was non-existent.
