RULE OF LAW KEY TO GROWTH – AVAP
By ANDREW MUKOMA
ZAMBIA must uphold the rule of law in order to realise meaningful economic development, the Anti Voter Apathy Project (AVAP) in Livingstone has said.
AVAP Livingstone District Coordinator, Nyambe Mutete, observed that this should be the route that the new government must take.
Mr Mutete told the Daily Nation in Livingstone yesterday that the rule of law was the heart of the relationship between government and its citizens hence the need to uphold it.
He explained that it was also the basis for creating trust and accountability and was the social contract between a government and its citizens.
Mr Mutete was optimistic that with the current restructuring that President Hichilema was undertaking, the rule of law would be upheld.
“To us building a resilient economy which shall steer economic recovery of our country is the way to go especially for the youth empowerment,” he said.
In fact we also want to appreciate that there is now sanity in the markets and bus stations with the presidential directive which brought and demonstrated a good stance in curbing caderism,” he said.
