PF in Chililabombwe cautions UPND

By ROGERS KALERO

WITCH-HITCHING and vengeance will only serve to divide the nation and make the ruling UPND unpopular, the Patriotic Front (PF) has warned.

PF Chililabombwe District Chairman, Fredrick Rontous Mwape, said President Hakainde Hichilema must utilise the opportunity provided by Zambians to promote unity regardless of tribe, religious and political affiliations.

He said if the government will focus so much attention on with-hunt, it may injure many people who thought the ruling party had come to find solutions to the economic challenges.

Mr Mwape said the UPND should start laying a firm foundation for economic recovery and national development.

He said the PF would not be confrontational but provide effective checks and balances and it will also expect the ruling party to tame its cadres.

“As a former ruling party, we have learnt a lot of lessons and this is why we will not be confrontational now that we are in the opposition. We will remind the ruling party on its campaign promises and possibly support them where we can

“We would like to advise the ruling party to desist from witch-hunting and vengeance because such actions will only serve to divide the nation and make the ruling party unpopular,” Mr Mwape said.

Mr Mwape also advised PF members to remain loyal and wait for the dust to settle as opposed to jumping from one party to the other.

He said some people have rendered themselves irrelevant in the political arena through being ‘political prostitutes’ because they had become untrustworthy.

He said following the August 12 loss, members should start picking up pieces while encouraging the party Members of Parliament (MP), Mayors and Councillors to fulfil their campaign promises

“Those who are resigning from the party now after the loss, they would not have resigned if the party had won the elections. The loss has identified cowards and those who are not loyal to the party,” he said
