Lusambo defends Kasanda

THE chief government spokesperson had a rough debut but will come good soon.
Our new Minister of Information and Media Ms Chushi Kasanda is a very strong, assertive and intelligent woman.
I have known and interacted with Ms Kasanda and I can attest to her strong personality and willingness to learn.
That unfortunate episode during her maiden news conference last week should be treated as an isolated case of below par performance which was occasioned by many factors that were beyond her control.
I spent some time at Parliament Buildings to personally encourage her to soldier on.
That performance should never be used as a basis to judge her performance as minister because her strong abilities far outweigh the demands to read a speech eloquently.
Moreover, it would be folly to judge one’s level of intelligence by the ability to read…foreign words.
