UPND lose four local govt petitions in Isoka

THE Local Government Elections Tribunal has dismissed the petition against Mr Arredy Silwimba as Isoka District Council Chairperson.
The tribunal has also dismissed three other local government petitions with costs.


Losing UPND Council Chairperson candidate Bright Siame petitioned the election of Mr Silwimba of PF citing electoral malpractice including threats and intimidations.


Other petitions dismissed include that of John Silungwe of UPND who petitioned PF’s Joseph Nyimbili for Kawenga ward, UPND losing candidate for Kanteshya ward Frederick Simposya who petitioned Isaac Siame of PF and Nakafita Nakamba of UPND who petitioned the election of Rabby Mpembamoto.

The petitioners claimed there was malpractices which include threats and intimidation in the August 12 general election.
The tribunal was presided over by Senior Resident Magistrate Sandford Ngobola, legal practioners Susan Zimba Banda and Samson Zulu.


They told the petitioners that the evidence given in the court has not established facts to convince the court.
The tribunal said the petitioners did not have sufficient evidence to support their allegations.
The tribunal also declared the four petitioned PF candidates as the duly elected for their seats.
