WHY US AND NOT RURAL ZAMBIA?

Dear Editor,

IF l was President of Zambia, my first trip would not be to the United States to meet President Joe Biden, meet the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund and meet the President of the World Bank.

Instead my first trip would be to rural Zambia to see how we can export our beef to Europe like Botswana, to see what bottlenecks farmers face in their crop production, to see how we can convert our tourism assets into actual cash, to see how more Zambians can be empowered to participate in artisanal and small-scale mining activities.

In short, to see how best we as a nation can convert our huge economic potential into actual wealth for the benefit of our people.

The main difference between myself and President Hakainde Hichilema is that he believes that the solutions to Zambia’s economic challenges lie in New York City while l believe that the solutions to our economic challenges lie here at home.

Zambia can only be developed by us Zambians.

SEAN TEMBO.
