Use ICT to boast tourism development – Livingstone mayor

By ANDREW MUKOMA
LIVINGSTONE City Mayor Constance Muleabai has called for the improved usage if ICT to boost tourism development in Livingstone.
Ms Muleabai has observed that ICT has the power to boost and improve the marketing of tourism for the city if utilized well.

She noted that tourists must have access to Livingstone before they visit the destination and ICT provides a platform for them to readily access all the services they need before visiting.
The City Mayor was speaking during the opening of the Information and Communication Technology Association of Zambia (ICTAZ) Mini Expo in Livingstone.
And ICTAZ president Karim Mutembo has observed that government cannot achieve positive economic transformation without leveraging ICT and digital transformation.
Mr Mutembo said ICT is a powerful tool that can create data that can help government and citizens make informed decisions.
However, he noted that most people have limited knowledge on how to get the most productive use of their devices.
The ICTAZ president has called on the government and other partners to reduce the taxation on technology devices so as to allow the necessary hardware to be obtained at affordable rates by the population.
He believes that this will be a milestone in growing the digital platforms and facilitating eCommerce in the country.
