CHIEF Nkana of Lufwanyama has urged the new down government to emulate the past administration by ensuring there is a timely delivery of farming inputs.

The traditional leader implored the New Dawn administration to ensure the timely delivery of inputs continues.

Chief Nkana was speaking at his palace when Nyimba Investments Head-Sales and Marketing Willings Mulendema paid a courtesy call on him.

The traditional leader said in the past farming seasons, Lufwanyama has been recording bumper harvests.

He attributed the bumper harvests that the area has been recording in the past to the timely delivery of inputs as well as the good rainfall pattern.

“The people in this chiefdom are thankful to the government for its continued support to agriculture by delivering inputs early.

“The new government should continue with the same works and they should contract companies that share the vision of the government. Nyimba has really been our true partner and please continue,” said the traditional leader.

Mr Mulendema said Nyimba would ensure there is timely delivery of inputs.

He said for the entire Copperbelt province; the company had completed the entire tonnage of 32,550 of both urea and Compound D by July.

“At the rate the farmers are redeeming,  we are certain that they should be done by November 30. We are happy to note that the farmers on the  Copperbelt are adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines when collecting inputs,” he said.

A farmer from Kalulushi, Nathan Shilimbwene commended Nyimba Investments for the timely delivery of inputs.

He said in the previous seasons, Nyimba Investments has been able to supply inputs early resulting in most parts of the Copperbelt province recording bumper harvests.

“As a farmer here I wish to wholeheartedly thank Nyimba Investments for supplying fertiliser early. It is because of their timely supply that most of us were motivated to make the contributions,” said Mr Shilimbwene.
