STOP THIS THUGGERY

By KALOBWE BWALYA
POLICE should move in and arrest cadres who are still perpetrating political violence because as UPND, we will not condone any thuggery behaviour to continue, party spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa, has warned.
Mr Mweetwa is also disappointed that the country is still witnessing political violence despite people voting out PF for the same behaviour which became unbearable.
Commenting on the incident which happened in Mandebvu where UPND cadres attacked PF Mandebvu Member of Parliament, Christopher Shakafuswa, and his wife, Mr Mweetwa called on relevant authorities to ensure that anyone behind this attack is brought to book.
He said the rule of law should be applied so that justice prevails and anyone that will be found wanting should face the law accordingly.
He said regardless of who is involved, the law should be applied equally because Zambia has laws of the land which should be respected.
Mr Mweetwa reiterated that President Hakainde Hichilema has condemned political violence and he will never condone such acts.
“When an offence is committed, relevant authorities are expected to take up their mandate and ensure that the rule of law is applied. Therefore, whoever is behind this violence should face the law accordingly,” said Mr Mweetwa.
On Sunday evening, UPND cadres attacked Mr Shakafuswa led by a man only identified has Nyeleti and Seizer. The incident has been reported to police.
