THERE is no way the UPND can tamper with evidence in the brutal killing of former North Western Province PF Chairperson Jackson Kungo and anyone who has evidence indicating we do, should report the matter to the police or give evidence in court, spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has said.
Recently, PF media and Publicity Chairperson Raphael Nakacinda said he had information suggesting that there is interference or attempts to tamper with witnesses in the murder case of North Western PF Chairperson Mr Jackson Kungo.
Mr Mweetwa in an interview said that if the allegations had merit then they were fertile ground to report the matter to the police because that was a criminal matter.
He however, said there was no need to politicize the matter but to let the police and other investigative wings to do their jobs.
Mr Mweetwa said as far as he was concerned, the UPND was not involved in any way in trying to tamper with evidence.
However, Mr Nakacinda yesterday claimed that some witnesses in the Kungo murder case had reportedly been moved to Lusaka from Solwezi by a non UPND party security personnel only known as Mufwaya.
Mr Nakacinda said information suggested that the witnesses had reportedly been accommodated at Parliament Motel. But Mr Mweetwa said this was not a political matter and urged Mr Nakacinda to report the matter to the Police or if possible give evidence in the courts of law.
He however said he doubted the credibility of these allegations because Mr Nakacinda was not a trustworthy person.
“I have little faith in the person that issued this statement. Maybe he just wants to give Zambians a bouquet of lies for Christmas,” Mr Mweetwa said.
