COPPERBELT TOWNS FACE LAND AUDIT – MATAMBO

By SANFROSSA MANYINDA

GOVERNMENT will not sit idle and allow illegal allocation of land to continue, Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo has said.

Mr Matambo said a land audit will soon be conducted in Kitwe and other districts in the province to find out how plots were allocated. Mr Matambo said there were so many illegalities that took place in the previous government were land was concerned, a trend which must stop.

Mr Matambo said the new administration would correct all the wrong things that seemed to be normal that were taking place.

“Going forward, government would do things in a straight manner and would not allow political party cadres to continue allocating land as if they work for the council. “We want to allow the councils to do their job.

That is why we are also advising them not to behave the way they were behaving in the previous government. Such things will not be entertained,” he said.

Mr Matambo said the government wanted to do things correctly that would benefit all Zambians who voted for change. He said the government would honour them by giving them what they voted for, which was sanity in such areas.

Mr Matambo added that President Hakainde Hichilema made it clear that in whatever happened, Zambians must always come first.
