ECZ should penalise candidates at fault
Dear Editor,
ECZ must introduce a penalty fee to those candidates who unreasonably withdraw after making other candidates waste resources and time campaigning or an election must go on even if one decides to withdraw from the race.
Even in competitions the whole tournament can’t be on hold just because one team has withdrawn, the games continue.
It’s too costly for other candidates to be re-filing in and paying nomination fees all because someone not sure of what he or she is doing decides to unceremoniously withdraw his or her candidature.
Going forward, I think let some election clauses be amended, he who decides to withdraw must pay for the other candidates’ nomination fees and penalty to ECZ. We need serious candidates not time wasters.
