GOVERNMENT says it will modernise borders and ensure that sanity is brought not only at Kasumbalesa but all borders across the country.
Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo said Government was in a hurry to address the challenge of porousness at the borders for sanity’s sake.
Mr Matambo said it was cardinal for government to maximise revenue for the country and that this could only be achieved if sanity was brought back at the borders.
” I would also love to thank the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) for their commitment towards work despite working under difficult conditions.
” May I also take this opportunity to assure them that the situation will soon be rectified,” he said.
Mr Matambo applauded Chililabombwe Municipal Council for taking a step to control street vending and ensuring that there was sound management of waste in Kasumbalesa.
He said this showed the council’s commitment in enhancing development in the district.
Mr Matambo said Kasumbalesa boarder was key to revenue collection and it was important for people to trade under good conditions.
