HH mourns Pemba accident victims

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has joined the rest of the country in mourning the people who died in a road traffic accident in Pemba on Thursday.

President Hichilema has cautioned motorists to exercise maximum responsible behaviour while on the road to safeguard lives.

The President was speaking through his Press Aide, Anthony Bwalya during a media briefing yesterday.

He said the thoughts and prayers of Zambians are with the bereaved families as he wished those in hospital a quick a quick recovery to the victims.

“Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families and friends of the deceased at his difficult time,” he said.

Mr. Hichilema said there was need for improved road safety through investment in quality road infrastructure.

He assured of government’s continued support to the Road Transport and Safety Agency for it to meet its mandate of promoting responsible behaviour on the road.

Sixteen people died on the spot on Thursday morning and the number yesterday increased to 17 while several others are nursing serious injuries in hospital.
