Avoid self-destruction, PF told

AVOID self-destruction and focus on providing leadership as the previous ruling party and strongest opposition political party, the Zambia DNA has advised the Patriotic Front (PF).

Zambia DNA spokesperson, Spuki Mulemwa said the self-destruction that the PF was plunging itself into was worrying for the party was in government six months ago.

Mr. Mulemwa said in an interview that the PF should remain united and focused and continue to hold the government accountable and at the same time provide leadership.

He feels that it would be difficult for the PF to provide credible checks and balances to the new dawn administration if they continued to follow the path to destruction.

Mr. Mulemwa urged the PF to put their house in order before they go to the general conference to choose the next president to succeed Mr Edgar Lungu.

He said in the absence of unity, it would be difficult for the PF to choose that leader that would make the rebranding process possible and ensure that the party remained the strongest opposition with the aim of returning to power.

And PF presidential hopeful and founder member, Chishimba Kambwili is concerned that the continued infighting in the PF would have serious consequences if the situation is not dealt with as soon as possible.

Mr. Kambwili has called for unity to avoid falling into the trap of enemies of the party whose aim is to see it collapse.
