THE outcry by most opposition political parties about President Hakainde Hichilema’s purported wasteful international trips is very loud and clear.
Yes, he has traveled such many times and its indisputable too. It is also indisputable that the trips are cost effective because they don’t abuse our treasury through a bloated advance entourage, something which was not seen before.
What is however silent from the same opposition political parties is acceptance through the same loud voice that there is free education from Grade one to 12 so far, that equalisation fund debts to all councils have been cleared, salary arrears to all councils have been cleared and pensioners have been paid. The truth is that they don’t want to admit such huge achievements by the new dawn administration in just a few months just because they want to sway everyone into their political battles.
Much has indeed been achieved from these trips unless to someone blinded by hatred.
These achievements could not surely have been attained just within the five months of the new dawn administration’s being in power without international engagement to instill confidence amongst our cooperating partners.
It is sad that our political platform is besieged by hate for one another than helping one in office to achieve more for the benefit of every Zambian. You can tell even from the in-fighting within their political parties that it is not about Zambians’ welfare but their well-being.
