Lubinda appears in court for corrupt practices involving US$539, 000

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) acting President Given Lubinda yesterday appeared before the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court in a matter in which he is charged with five counts of corruption practices involving more than US$539,000.

Lubinda, 58, of plot 21841 Hillview Park Lusaka  who appeared before Lusaka Chief Resident Magistrate Dominic Makalicha, however,  could not take plea because the State was not ready to proceed as his charge sheet was not before court.

This is in a matter in which Lubinda is allegedly facing five counts of possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime contrary to section 71 (1) of the Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime Act No. 19 of 2010, of the Laws of Zambia. Mr Lubinda is being represented by Lawyer Makebi Zulu.

Details in count one are that Lubinda on  April 2, 2019 in Lusaka Province, did possess a house type S3-A+1 valued at US $260, 000 situated at Kingsland City, along Twin Palms Road, Ibex Hill Lusaka.

It is alleged in count two that on  February 20, 2019, he did possess US $100, 000 in his account number 055-1026566 domiciled at ABSA Bank Zambia PLC.

In count three Lubinda on  December 23, 2019 did possess US$80, 000 in his account number 055-1026566 domiciled at ABSA Bank Zambia PLC.

Count four, Lubinda on   March 6, 2018 did possess US $50, 000 in his account number 055-1026566 domiciled at ABSA Bank Zambia PLC.

And in the last count, it is alleged that Mr Lubinda on April 2, 2019 did possess US $49, 990 in his account number 055-1026566 domiciled at ABSA Bank Zambia PLC.
