Unemployed docs worried about recruitment process

By MUKWIMA CHILALA

UNEMPLOYED doctors have expressed worry that the recruitment exercise for the 11,  276 health workers may delay following the overwhelming response which has seen over 100, 000 people jostling for the positions.

Dr Wallace Ndumba, the chairperson of the unemployed doctors said the decision which was made by government to recruit both supporting staff and medical experts would have been avoided so as not to prolong the selection process.

The Civil Service Commission yesterday disclosed that 109, 777 applications have so far been received for the 11, 276 jobs for health workers recently advertised, with the overwhelming numbers expected to increase after an extension of the application deadline.  “The doctors are however hopeful that the selection process will not be characterised with confusion following the overwhelming numbers of applicants,” he said
