A DRUG trafficker who had brandished a pistol before escaping at the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) premises in July has been nabbed.
DEC Public Relations officer Hussein Khan has announced that Muvundo, 29 who escaped from DEC premises was apprehended in a special operation conducted at a hotel in Lusaka.
Mr Khan said a body search conducted on Muvundo led to the discovery of 0.57 grammes of cocaine and one round of ammunition.
“A search also conducted at a house in Kalingalinga where a pistol was recovered with four rounds of ammuniation.Another pistol with 17 rounds of ammunition was recovered in Mumbwa. This is the pistol Muvundo brandished when he escaped from the DEC premises and in the process shot an innocent bystander in the arm,” Mr Khan said.
In a related incident DEC has arrested a Zambian for trafficking in over 4.5 kilograms of heroin.
He said that DEC charged and arrested Andrew Kalilo for trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and importation of Narcotic Drugs contrary to sections 15 and 16 respectively of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances Act No 35 of 2021 of the laws of Zambia.
