Female soldiers challenged

Kaoma District Commissioner Kashina Sheba has urged female officers and soldiers not to lag and let the male counterparts take the lead in combat role.
Ms Sheba said the drive towards gender equality in all male-dominated field’s calls for serious commitment by women.
She was speaking in Kaoma when she met a Zambia Army delegation led by 4 Engineering Brigade Commander Brigadier-General Buumba Zyeele, Director General Training Branch Brigadier General John Banda, and other staff officers from army headquarters.
The team was in Kaoma to assess the suitability of the Mbonga Recruit Training Centre in Kaoma for the forthcoming recruit training.
Ms Sheba commended the Zambia Army for running a Facebook page, which she said was helpful to the citizens to understand and appreciate the army’s role and activities.
And Brig-Gen. Banda revealed that the command wants the male and female recruits to train from separate centres, with the female Centre having its own strategic female dominated command.
Brig-Gen Zyeele said the team was on a mission to assess the training area, note logistical requirements and make sure that the centre was conducive for the forthcoming recruit training.
