Political condition prevailing should not guarantee PF comeback – Mpombo
By NATION REPORTER
THE political condition prevailing at the moment in this country does not translate to an automatic comeback for the Patriotic Front (PF) into power, veteran politician George Mpombo has said.
Dr. Mpombo said the PF were facing serious competition from other political parties and as such the must promote and deepen internal Democratic process.
He said negative behavior like what was currently obtaining in the party has potential to mare the image of the party to its greatest detriment.
Dr. Mpombo said in this era of democratic dispensation people must practice politics of constructive engagement and move away from politics of intolerance.
“Whatever decision we make should not have a burnt of political vengeance, we should find a mature way of dealing with these issues, “he said.
He said there were proper channels of handling sensitive matters which must be followed than dragging issues in the public.
Dr. Mpombo said there was too much dissatisfaction among the people of what the UPND has achieved and this means that any political party that could show maturity could get into power in 2026.
He said PF should not in any way think they were the automatic beneficiary of the UPND failures because the more they get disorganized the more chances were being given to other people.
Dr. Mpombo also said what could only remove UPND from power 2026 was a coalition government as there was no single political party that looks like they could unseat them.
He said should at this time show magnanimity and strong democratic character and ingredients that would be a magnet which could consolidated their political base.
“Otherwise with this political pandemonium that is taking place they could be going under the sea,” he said.
