THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has strongly condemned the violence that broke out during the campaign in the Petauke by-election, which on Sunday, escalated to the extent that some Tonse Alliance members were severely beaten and hacked while a house belonging to a UPND sympathizer was extensively damaged and his blankets burnt.
ECZ Chief Electoral Officer, Brown Kasaro, expressed the Commission’s firm disapproval of the violence, which involved clashes between supporters of the National Congress Party (NCP) under the Tonse Alliance and the UPND in Minga Ward.
