By Frank Nyambe

A LOCAL Court in Lusaka heard how a house wife started experiencing prolonged periods whenever she has sex with her husband after he brought a girlfriend in the matrimonial bed while she was away.

This was heard in Kanyama Local Court in a case in which Judith Tembo, 29, of Garden House sued her husband, Esau Daka, 31, a businessman for divorce.

The two got married in 2004 and have two children.

Tembo told Senior Court Magistrate Lewis Mumba sitting with Magistrates Abbyshine Michelo and Esther Mulomba at Kanyama Local Court that Daka has been chasing her since 2015 and that once the court tried to reconcile but nothing changed.

She explained that in December 2015 after he chased her, he brought a girlfriend in the matrimonial bedroom, adding that she started experiencing unusual long periods after making love with her husband.

Tembo said even after informing her husband about the turn of events, Daka responded by chasing her away.

In cross-examination, Tembo said children told her that Daka brought a girlfriend in the atrimonial home and her husband personally admitted having done so.  In defence, Daka said that problems started in 2015 when Tembo started business at Soweto Market because she started arriving home late especially on Christmas Days.

He explained that he locked Tembo in the house on Christmas Day and asked her why she denied him conjugal rights.

Daka said that on Christmas Day last year, Tembo came home drunk and said that she could do whatever she wanted and left. She only returned home on December 27.

But Tembo said that she was refusing to make love because whenever she made love to her husband  she experienced long periods which sometimes made her feel dizzy after Daka brought a prostitute in  their matrimonial bed.

Magistrate Mumba said that the court had noted that Tembo experienced long periods whenever she made love to her husband and that the marriage had been on and off.

He granted the couple divorce ordering Daka to compensate Tembo with K5000 by monthly instalments of K500 and to be paying child maintenance fee of K300 per month. Property acquired together would be shared equally.
